B & O EM-1 2-8-8-4

Built after World War II restrictions put a limit on new diesel locomotives, the EM-1 was the last steam locomotive class used by the B&O Railroad. This simple articulated engine provided tremendous power at high speeds, making it an ideal hauler of heavy loads through the mountains of West Virginia. The B&O president, Roy B. White, was so impressed after viewing the first one that he exclaimed, “Well, I must say, they have everything!” Bachmann follows in this tradition by presenting a feature-rich DCC-equipped B&O EM-1 2-8-8-4 model, ready for the addition of 16-bit Tsunami® plug-and-play prototypical sound. (Separate-sale Item No. 44951, EM-1 Plug-and-Play Sound Module, required for sound-on-board performance).
